Just because we are not on roads…

There is a growing feeling amongst a section of the public that Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement for the Jan Lokpal Bill has fizzled out. From friends and well-wishers, I have been regularly hearing comments like, “Anna Hazare ka movement thode din chala. Lekin kya faayda hua? Wapas sab thanda pad gaya!”

First of all, let me get this clear – Just because we are not on roads protesting, it doesn’t mean the movement is all over. Anna and his team are still striving to get the Jan Lokpal Bill passed. They are still away from their homes and personal lives while bearing atrocities of the government.

Most importantly, the large majority of the general public, who actively took part in the protests, is still following every detail of the movement. Just visit any Jan Lokpal or Anna Hazare group on Facebook and Twitter, look at the number of enthusiastic comments to know the truth.

Like Arvind Kejriwal said in his latest statement that the government is doing every bit to shift the focus from passing the Bill by accusing Team Anna members of something or the other almost every week. They are bringing up issues which are of no relevance to the cause of Jan Lokpal. I salute Kejriwal when he said the government should give them the strictest of punishment if they feel they are guilty but let the Jan Lokpal Bill pass.

Accordng to him, the next protest will start soon and it will be bigger than before! Indeed it will be!

Digvijay’s proof or spoof?

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has presented what he calls a ‘proof’ which proves that Anna Hazare’s movement for the Jan Lokpal Bill is backed by RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh). This is why I feel the proof is actually a spoof: –

– He just has a letter by an RSS activist where he has merely said that the RSS gives full support to Anna Hazare’s movement. Anna has received such support from crores and crores of Indians. So, what kind of proof is this? How can you prove by this mere letter that the whole movement is controlled and engineered by RSS? And from where did he find the letter all of a sudden? Most importantly, the movement started in April and gained momentum in August. So, why Digvijay didn’t show the proof before?

– Digvijay has also alleged that Anna’s support caps (topis) were manufactured by RSS. If so, he never revealed how he came to know about this! Was he doing some sting operation on RSS or was he so jobless that he was hiding at the place where the caps were being manufactured? Once again – the caps were made in August. So, why Digvijay didn’t reveal this before? Maybe because the head honchos of Congress hadn’t thought of playing this silly card by then!

– The most hilarious thing said by Digvijay is that the Congress party isn’t worried by the possibility that Anna’s movement might affect their chances of winning the 2012 elections. The manner in which Digvijay gave the statement in itself proves the shaken state of Congress. It is common knowledge that the party is having sleepless nights because of Anna and rightly so. Just do an opinion poll Mr Singh and you will know the humongous rise in the unpopularity of Congress!

On Tuesday (October 11, 2011) Digvijay had asked why Anna isn’t campaigning against BJP. Well, I pity Mr Singh’s common sense. Congress is the ruling party so all bills are to be passed by them. So, if they aren’t passing the bill, it is obvious that Anna or anyone of us for that matter will speak against Congress! Need some basic Political Science lessons sir?

After every few days or weeks Congress has been employing silly tricks to finish off the movement. This show by Digvijay was another attempt of the party to shift the focus from the main issue i.e the passing of the Jan Lokpal Bill. But, as I have said before, they won’t succeed. The Common Man won’t let them!

P.S – When a number of innocent Indians died in the July 13 Mumbai blasts, Digvijay didn’t consider the incident too serious saying, “Our situation is much better than Pakistan.” Need I say more?

Won’t let the movement fizzle out, say enthusiastic Punekars

Although Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption stint has succeeded in giving rise to a historic movement in India, it is up to us to make sure the flame is kept alive. This was ensured by India Against Corruption’s (IAC) Pune wing members as they carried out a massive bike and car rally from Pune to Ralegaon Siddhi. Around 200 enthusiastic youngsters were a part of the rally, all excited to meet the man himself – Anna.

Take a look at the pictures from the event which tries to give a firm message that the movement will never fizzle out.

Congress in a fix, digging its own grave!

Dramatic scenes outside Delhi’s Tihar jail are seen to be believed. Although Anna Hazare is allowed release, he is refusing to leave jail. This is because he is been imposed restrictions on his fast-unt0-death. He is in no mood to have this kind of a release as he, rightly, considers it meaningless.

Thousands and thousands of his supporters are still outside Tihar Jail and Chhatrasal Stadium protesting for a proper release for Anna. In fact, his supporters are increasing minute-by-minute not only outside Tihar Jail but all over country.

This has put the undemocratic Congress Government in a fix. They are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. On one hand, Anna is adamant and on the other hand, his supporters are determined to get their demands met. So, the government has no other choice but to meet the demands else things will become uglier for them. Even right now, there will hardly be anyone who will vote for Congress now!

Well, Congress did ask for this. How can you expect the common  man to be calm when the government itself makes fun of the word democracy and ridicules the Constitution Of India? By showering atrocities on a peaceful protestor, they have shown their monstrous attitude.

I repeat this again – when opposition political parties openly destroy or burn public property, the same government turns a blind eye but when Anna Hazare or Baba Ramdev wishes to do peaceful protest, they try to sabotage them! Need a better example of a cowardly act?

Conclusion – Congress has dug its own grave while Anna and we, his supporters, are ready to fill it with mud!

The war is not over, it’s just begun…

I always wished I was born much before the 1980s so that I could have witnessed our great leaders fighting against the British for our country’s independence. Not just witnessing, I could have even taken part in the battle. I always felt deprived of the actual feeling of fighting for the country. I knew I could never experience this.

However, an act of bravery by a 73 year old Anna Hazare, of fasting unto death for the passing of Jan Lokpal Bill, and the way it awakened the patriotic zeal in the whole of India gave me an experience of our freedom struggle. The stubborn way in which the senior citizen stood up against our villainous government and the subsequent support it received from people of all walks of life, made me experience the feeling I always longed for.

It also proves that all you need to fight is rock solid determination instead of a toned muscular body. Such was his determination that it shook the Congress government and gave them sleepless nights.

It was indeed a triumphant moment for the nation when the government accepted the demands of Hazare. Truly a victory for Hazare and the common man of India. However, I am a bit taken aback by the celebrations that took place in almost each and every part of India. The way jubilant supporters went all out on the streets celebrating made it look as if corruption is wiped out entirely from India.

We should not forget that the Jan Lokpal Bill is yet to be passed. Although Congress has assured about it, you just can’t trust them at face value. We will have to make sure that the bill is actually passed before August 15, 2011. After that, even a bigger challenge awaits us – to see that the anti-corruption act is implemented and the corrupt leaders and politicians are awarded the strictest of punishments.

So right now, we have just won the first round and the actual war against the blood-sucking government has just begun. And if the people of India show the same determination and zeal they have shown in the last 6 days, the war will surely have fruitful results for us. I say surely because it will be fought by the common man, who can be deadlier than any weapon of mass destruction!
