Even though Digvijay Singh and his Congress comrades try to show they are unperturbed by the Anna Hazare movement, their fear and insecurity is as obvious as sun rising every morning. Union Communications and IT Minister Kapil Sibal’s recent demand of censoring or removing anti-government posts from social media further proves the point.
The vulnerability of our government is clearly visible by such a laughable demand. Laughable because any moderately regular user on Facebook and Twitter knows it is humanly impossible to moderate status updates and posts on these social networking sites as every minute, there are lakhs of updates and posts. How on earth can you keep a tab on them?
The government should also accept the fact that the numerous anti-Congress posts and messages are an outcome of their own anti-national actions. The monumental scams, their attitude towards it, postponing the demand of the masses of a proper Jan Lokpal Bill, sabotaging Hazare and Baba Ramdev’s basic right to protest, cheap tactics against Team Anna, etc have triggered the stance of the masses. You can’t expect Indians to take it lying down, can you? So face the heat as you are responsible for it!
But suppose our silly government succeeds in its silly task of censoring content on the social networking sites, I believe it will not make any difference on the result of the anti-corruption movement that the country is fighting. In fact, the movement will gain further momentum like it did in August after a series of blunders by them.
For their (government) kind information, they won’t earn a thing pondering over social networking sites. The whole country is geared up for a massive protest not inside the cyber zones but right into their faces on December 11. Needless to mention, December 27 as well. Get ready for more sleepless nights you fellas!
